The following sessions are mandatory for all new graduate students
Joining a Research Group
One of your first and most significant tasks as a graduate student will be to choose a research advisor from our departmental faculty or those faculty members who have a joint appointment with our department. Visit the individual faculty pages of our website to learn about each professor's current research topics. Speak to the professor of your choice about joining his/her group. Once you have been admitted, you must submit a permanent adviser form to the Graduate Advising Office.

- Graduate Student Writing Service - a free service from the UT Learning Center
- Parking - Information about parking on campus.
- Keys - ask your supervising professor which keys you will need and fill out a key permit accordingly. Key permits can be obtained from the Graduate Advising Office, or the Chairman's Office in Welch Hall. Take your signed key permit to the Services Building (Map) to obtain your key(s).
